What is a long-lasting warranty

"Warranty extension", "complementary warranty", "spread warranty" a lot of designations that have the same meaning. What is to be memorized is that it is a continuation of the initial manufacturers warranty and/or suppliers (usually 1 or 2 years) during a period going from 1 to 4 years but not exceeding 5 years all together.

To what a long-lasting warranty applies?

To household products: big household appliances, (HiFi, image and video) multimedia and computers equipments.

By whom the subscription of a long-lasting warranty is made?

By individuals only, the warranty cannot be applied to by professionals and/or marketing use products.

How long is the maximum coverage?

It lasts a maximum of 5 years including the initial warranty (manufacturer or distributor)

When does the extension start?

The extension starts as soon as the initial warranty is over.

How repairing is committed?

Call SFG's hotline, open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM and on Saturdays until 1:00 PM.
If the breakdown needs a technician's visit, SFG sends immediately the repairing company closest to the customer's home. For information, more than 80% of the interventions are settled within 72 hours. As soon as the reparation is completed, we pay directly the repairing company. No invoicing to be made!

What happens when the equipment cannot be repaired, that means in case of total damage?

In case of total damage, that is to say when the equipment cannot be repaired or when its value, % of the deducted oldness (according to the contract), is lower than the cost of repair, it is, whether renewed by a similar equipment with similar characteristics (updated value taking into account the market evolution of that range of equipments and the public tariffs in effect), whether compensated for: the compensation is calculated on the day of the damage, upon an initial purchase price of the equipment, oldness being deducted. SFG is the decision-maker.

What is taken into account?

On top of exclusions meant in the warranty contract, the equipment may have breakdowns due to external origin. For example: an impact, an immoderate dampness, lightning, flood. Moreover, some of these damages are covered by the house insurance contract of the equipment's owner. The accessories and the wear-out parts are as well charged to the owner, like in all warranty contrats.

In case of breakdown, is the customer being repaired at home or will he have to bring his equipment to a repairing company?

If the equipment cannot be carried, that is to say if its weight is over 35 kg, a certified repairing technician will intervene at home. On the opposite, the customer will be asked to bring his equipment to the nearest certified repairing company. We usually talk to microwaves ovens, HIFI music centers, DVD readers, cameras, small TV.

May the customer get in touch with the repairing station himself?

No. It is necessary to call the hotline in order to have a diagnosis and assure the customer for a qualified intervention to be made by its own SFG certified network of specialists.

How the repairing stations are chosen?

SFG technical partners cover the whole national territory. A permanent selection and a continuous animation of this network help to maintain a high quality level in all the interventions.

Is there a limit for a repairing expense?

No. No limit except when the expense is higher than the equipment value, oldness deduction made, (according to the contract, a month from the purchasing date. On the opposite, any repairing whose amount would exceed 152 euros will need a previous agreement.

How long may last a repair?

All depends on the problem of the breakdown, but our statistics show that most of the breakdowns are solved upon the first visit of the technicians. However, a repair might be delayed when a spare part is not immediately available or when a specific request is made to the manufacturer (expertise or problem due to the brand).


  House moving

What happens in case of house moving?

The equipment is always covered on the national territory. You just have to give us your new address upon declaring the breakdown.


  Special insurance

As part of a MRH contract that includes assistance at home, may SFG handle that type of services out of warranty?

Under some circumstances: by reserving this service to products said touchy such as fridges, deep freezers, washing machines and TV, and limiting the age of these products up to 10 years and excluding the spare parts being charged to the customer, SFG can intervene within 72 hours as part of the assistance.

Do MRH contracts include oldness and/or exemption? Can SFG manage these characteristics as part of the damage settlement?

Yes, SFG is able to manage the exemption deduction or oldness on a damaged file, either directly on the file, either by means of our technical partners.
